In June 2007,
Marica  Tolichowki  welcome 550 students against 350 in  2006.

Marica projects are many. Marie Christine’s perseverance added to visitors’ energy and your moral and financial support make dreams turn into ideas and reality..

At Marica II, sports ground and first floor were constructed to welcome more students and teach all subjects. The city is affiliated to the Central Board of Education of Delhi. This, in itself, is a proof of quality teaching.  Sound health is the core and the priority of life: Nutrition is distributed to 350 children and physiotherapy offered to seven handicapped children.

Last, but not the least, 9 children of Marica II have successfully passed their class X public exam. They are the first students who ten years ago came and sat under a tent to learn reading and writing. Today, they have graduated.

MARICA II celebrated their ten years of services.  Can there be any better reward than these successful students starting life with a promising future?

De nombreux projets attendent leur tour de réalisation : ici la construction du premier étage à Marica 2, en octobre 2006

2003 – With Antenna Trust’s help, Marica starts spirulina cultivation. This algae is an ideal balanced food supplement to be distributed to students among others,  in the form of juice and  powder.  Marica  finds funding for other associations caring for patients suffering from leprosy or  aids, for aged persons and for children living in slums.

At this date, Marica I counts  450 fee paying children. Nearly 50 low vision and handicapped children and 65 very poor children coming from slums are exempted from fees.  At Marica II, 200 children pay a very nominal amount for respect and enjoy cost free services.

. As for Marica Mobile,  yearly  100 children enjoy absolutely free services. At a time, teachers have classes of 25 to 42 students.

Marica is no longer the small school it used to be. One of its main objectives is to stabilize the group of teachers and to entrust local educationalists  with  the management.

In 1999,  a literacy camp was started with the help of the then Mandel Educational Officer and in the presence of a  student  of Science Po, Paris. The  settlement  selected was in the granite stone quarries of the Rama Krishna Murhty Mission beyond the Himayat Sagar dam where the  children and adults  crushed stone and loaded huge bins taken away for road construction. There was only ground water for drinking. Epidemics would often decimate the camp Wada population.  (" Marica III") MARICA  MOBILE School’s first objective was to stop children’s labour, teach basic hygiene rules, bring food supplement and introduce literacy in Telugu.

In 2002,  Marica I was affected by daily  sewage problems  and flooding.  A  dry land was purchased at Tolichowki  and the school  shifted  in May 2003. The ground floor was immediately built. Later, in 2004 and 2005, two other storeys were subsequently built

Marica  project : from small to big.

In 1991, Marica I unofficially starts and welcome the first batch of ... 12 students.  Very early in 1992, Marica society is registered  at Hyderabad  and the school recognized by the state of Andhra Pradesh, being the evidence of good services offered to handicapped and valid children..

In  1995, Marie Christine purchases a land in a poor rural area, 15 kms away from Hyderabad.  Classes were held under a plastic tent, in spite of  parents’ reluctance. Ten tattered  and malnourished children, some of them affected by scabies and polio volunteered to come and study.

In 1996, Marie Christine’s mother visited Marica and saw the potential of this new settlement. She asked for a project proposal to be written and she went back to France with a file in her luggageShe showed the proposal to several persons. Her own brother, Tony,   already caring and officiating in several foundations caring for sick and handicapped children and Marie Christine’s God father, too.
Uncle Tony adopted the project and offered the school building.
In 1996, construction start and Marica II was inaugurated in February 1997.  Children enjoy quality education  and receive nutritious food supplement, medical care and friendly treatment.
