visit a photo-exhibition about the tigers
In November 2007, class IV and V-students of Marica I (city school) had the opportunity to visit a photo-exhibition about the tigers in the State Gallery of Fine Arts, Hyderabad. The photographer, Dr Venkat, spent 6 years in the jungle to take all the pictures showing  Indian tigers’ life. Since he was present in the Gallery when the children came to the exhibition, he could explain them how he had lived in the jungle, shot these photos, which had a great impact upon our young visitors! He also spoke about the protection of tigers and, more generally, about forests and environment protection.

the Children’s Day
Every year, the Children’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of November in India. This day was chosen as it is Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday, and the past  first Prime Minister of India loved children. On that day, children who attend school have a special thought for all children who don’t have the chance of going to school.
the Shunem Home
Two weeks before Christmas 2007, students of class V to X speaking Telugu went to the Shunem Home  for  the Aged  and for Street Children  to present a small theatre in Telugu and Hindi.. This home,  operated by an Australian organisation and located near Marica DKK school, takes care of about 30 elderly people and 56 orphans. Marica students also brought some cakes to share a cup of tea with their  friends  of  Shunem.
This visit was a nice occasion to entertain the elderly people and children residing at Shunem, as
well as to make Marica’s students aware of their neighbours’ condition  and spend some time, bringing joy to others.
Later at the end of the academic year,  Marica DKK students and teachers contributed to the payment of the hospital bill on a very poor student of Class X  who broke his leg, just two days before his Call X  public exam.
